Clearing Out the Bed Feng Shui
Someone forwarded me a hilarious Craigslist ad of a woman selling her mattress because she no longer wanted to sleep on the bed that she and her cheating ex-boyfriend used to share.
At first I simply enjoyed the ad because of the humor in the write-up.
Then I realized how, intentional-or-not, the person who posted the ad was practicing Feng Shui.
Feng Shui Space Clearing
By disposing of the old mattress, she was cleaning out bad relationship energy.
The seller was clearing a road for new a relationship to come into her life (hopefully someone more caring and faithful then her ex).
I’m not saying that everyone getting out of a relationship should dispose of their old mattress every time they break up with someone. The sheets, yes. Mattress? Probably not.
Advertise Availability
If you are ready to move on from a relationship, you need to make it known to the energy around you that you have cleared the space for someone new.
If you find yourself in this situation, let me ask you something: Do you still have a shoe box full of items from your previous relationships? Perhaps pictures, ticket stubs, dried out roses, love notes…?
Move On
These things are holding you back emotionally from moving forward to meet that special someone who is right for you. When you hold onto them, they remind you of the past.
Instead, you should be looking forward to a new and better relationship to come.
This goes for everything in our lives, but especially for finding that special someone.
When you are ready to move on and ready to welcome someone special in your life, create some space for them… in your home and in your heart.
Just make sure you have a bed to sleep in after you’ve created the space!
I wish you and the Craigslist seller the best of luck in releasing yourselves from past experiences and moving toward brighter futures.

Designing Homes the Feng Shui Way
As a Feng Shui consultant to several home builders, I always take an interest in seeing what others say about Feng Shui as it pertains to homes.
The Times of India has an article with some very basic elements talking about how homes should be built, including the following (with my comments):
Main Door: The main door should be larger than any other door in the house and its directional position is important. I would like to add that the house should be designed in such a way that the front door can be used the most regularly as the main entryway. For a healthy Career & Life Path Area of your home, be sure to use your front door!
Kitchen: The article points out that there needs to be a balancing act between the various elements found in a kitchen (metal from utensils, fire from the stove, water from the sink, etc.). Placement is important so that these items work in a creative cycle for energy rather than a destructive cycle. See some of my tips for the kitchen here and here.
Master Bedroom: Though the article largely discusses furniture here, it correctly points out that the location of the master bedroom is very important, though it does not elaborate. While having the master bedroom in the Love & Relationship Corner, I would contend that it is most important that no part of this room extends outside of the home as defined by the front door.
Toilets: The article correctly points out that toilets only relatively recently made their way indoors. It is widely believed in Feng Shui that toilets will suck the Feng Shui energy, or Chi, right out of your home. Getting rid of the toilet just isn’t practical in modern society, but make sure not to have them in dangerous places and use some tricks to slow the drain.

Find the Love of Your Life with Feng Shui!
Are you ready for a serious relationship?
Do you want to find that ideal husband or wife?
Do you want to share your life with a special someone?
Why not ask for it in the language of Feng Shui?
Define Your Love
First, write down what kind of qualities you would like in your mate.
Then, write that list as a Thank You note. The more detailed, the better.
I am thankful that I have found the love of my life. I am thankful that he/she understands me. I am thankful that he/she loves my family like their own. I am thankful that my family loves him/her. I am thankful that he/she is a successful, healthy, attractive, talented, sensitive, funny… person.
Bedroom Matters
Look in your bedroom.
Does it seem welcoming for a mate?
Does it have two pillows instead of one on the bed?
Does the bed have room for someone to come in from the other side of the bed?
Do your night stands balance each other?
Try having matching night stands and lights on either side of your bed.
Balance in two, one for you and one for the other person.
Make Room for Love
Even if you haven’t found “the one” yet, you need to create room in your home for that special someone to come into your life.
Check your closet as well.
Does it have room for the other person to “move in”?
You have to create space in order for it to get filled up with what you want.
In-Home Advertising
If your bedroom and your house are screaming, “I am single,” then that’s the message you are sending out to the Universe.
If you have a house or bedroom that looks welcoming for someone else, then that’s the energy you will attract.

Can’t Sleep at Night? Use Feng Shui Cures.
What’s in your bedroom?
Your bedroom should be a place of peace and quiet; a place where you can go at the end of the day and unwind….
Your bedroom should not be a place to eat, watch TV, scroll on your phone, or read.
When you are laying in your bed, do you see clutter in your room?
Is there a mirror facing your bed?
Is there “stuff” on top and inside your night stand that does not belong in the bedroom?
Make sure that bedroom is a place of relaxation.
Don’t store things under the bed.
Eliminate sources of EMF stimulation cellphones and televisions. The only electronic device should be a white noise sound machine.
Light disturbs sleep patterns, so I suggest blackout curtains and other methods to block light while you sleep.

Clutter and Feng Shui
Cleaning: it’s not just for Spring.
If you want real changes in your life, and you want something “new” to show up in your life, throw away the “old”.
According to Feng Shui, clutter is very bad.
We all have a box of stuff that we keep saying “I might need that later… when I get a bigger place… When I lose weight…”
If you don’t need it regularly and it’s cluttering up your home, throw it out!
Especially throw out the things that don’t make you feel good; things that remind you of sad times or pictures from a previous bad relationship.
By doing so, you are creating new space for something new and exciting to come in.
If throwing out the clutter doesn’t drastically improve your situation, you need to contact me right now to inquire about a Feng Shui Space Clearing or a Virtual Feng Shui Consultation.
