9 Tips for Living in a T-Intersection Home

When I work with home builders, we often find ways to prevent T-intersection homes from being built. If you are already living in one, though, I know it can be challenging to many aspects of your life, including your health, wealth, and career. If you can’t move, here are a few simple feng shui tips to improve your life while living in a T-intersection home:

  1. Use a convex bagua mirror over your front doorway to deflect overwhelming energy from the T-intersection.
  2. Add fencing at the outside edge of your yard in front of your house, at least.
  3. Place heavy objects like boulders or deep metal posts in your front yard to block vehicles that might miss their turn.
  4. Inside, place furniture and décor in a way that promotes a sense of calm and tranquility.
  5. Incorporate plants, crystals, or soothing colors to bring a sense of peace to the space.
  6. Use blackout curtains or blinds at night to block out excess light from car headlights.
  7. Use soundproofing materials to reduce noise from the intersection and/or a white noise sound machine to drown out the noise while sleeping.
  8. Keep the home clean and organized to promote a sense of calm and clarity.
  9. Regularly practice stress-reducing activities, such as meditation or yoga, to maintain a sense of peace.

While these tips will help make things a little better, my first piece of advice is to find another home as soon as possible. If that doesn’t work, we may be able to use more advanced techniques for your particular situation.

Feng Shui Your Garden for a Tranquil Outdoor Space

What better place to create harmony with feng shui than a garden? Just imagine the peace you’ll achieve with your green thumb and a little chi. Here are a few feng shui tips for adding tranquility to your garden:

  1. Add natural elements: Carefully select plants and other natural features that represent the Five Elements of Feng Shui: wood, fire, earth, metal, and water. Each element has its own symbolism and energy and should generally be used along with the Feng Shui Bagua to create balance and harmony in your garden. For some examples of how to use the elements: fruit trees may represent wood; a small fire pit or red accents could represent fire; stones could represent earth; wrought iron fencing could be used for metal; and a small pond would represent the water element.
  2. Use winding paths and curved edges: Sharp corners disrupt the flow of energy, which causes tension. Instead, use winding paths and curved edges in your garden to create a more natural flow.
  3. Use color wisely: Different colors have different meanings in feng shui. For example, green represents renewal, so it’s good to use in areas where you want to encourage growth. Yellow can represent happiness, so it’s a good color to use where you want to create a cheerful atmosphere. Blue represents tranquility, so use it where there should be a peaceful atmosphere. Like with the elements, be sure to refer to the Bagua to make sure you are using colors in the appropriate places.

Use your gardening time and these feng shui tips to not only create a beautiful outdoor space, but also create some additional harmony in your life.

Using Crystals in Feng Shui

Crystals have been used for centuries as powerful tools for healing, balance, and transformation. In Feng Shui, you can use crystals to enhance the energy of your space and to bring positive change into your life.

Here are a few tips for using crystals in Feng Shui:

  1. Choose the right crystals: Different crystals have different properties and energies. It’s important to choose crystals that resonate with your goals. Some common crystals used in Feng Shui include quartz, amethyst, and citrine.
  2. Place crystals in strategic locations: Where you place your crystals can have a big impact on the energy of your space. For instance, place hanging quartz crystals in areas of your home or office where you want to spread energy around, such as in long hallways, when your front door opens to stairs, above your toilet, or when your front and back doors line up.
  3. Cleanse and charge your crystals: Your crystals will absorb negative energy over time and can lose their potency. You’ll need to regularly cleanse your crystals to maintain their effectiveness. To do this, you can clean them with sea salt water, smudge them with sage, or recharge them in sunlight or moonlight.
  4. Work with the energy of the crystals: Each type of crystal has its own unique properties. When you work with the energy of a specific crystal, you can amplify its effects to bring about positive change in your life. Amethyst, for example, is often used to promote relaxation and clarity. Citrine is used to attract abundance and prosperity.

By using crystals correctly, you’ll enhance the energy of your space to bring positive changes to your life. Don’t overdo it, though.

5 Feng Shui Tips for Creating an Environmentally Sustainable Home

In honor of Arbor Day, let’s talk about the environment and feng shui. When I consult home builders, I suggest that they incorporate environmentally sustainable practices such as the simple tips below that anyone can do. We’re doing our part to help the planet while also bringing positive energy and harmony to the living space.

Here are 5 feng shui tips for creating an environmentally sustainable home:

  1. Bring in natural elements. Incorporating natural elements, such as plants, wood, and stone, can bring balance and harmony to your space. They are aesthetically pleasing and can help purify the air – promoting a healthier living environment.
  2. Use energy-efficient appliances and lighting. In feng shui, wood elements represent growth and abundance. Choosing energy-efficient appliances and lighting saves money on energy costs and invites in abundance.
  3. Incorporate eco-friendly materials. When renovating or decorating, choose eco-friendly materials like recycled or sustainable wood, low-VOC paint, and organic fabrics. They are better for the environment and improve the energy flow in the home.
  4. Enhance the flow of water. Water is associated with wealth and abundance in feng shui. Use water features, such as a fountain or fish tank, to enhance the flow of water and invite abundance. Just be sure to maintain your water features using environmentally friendly cleaning products and practices.
  5. Use natural light. Maximizing the use of natural light in your home saves energy and improves energy flow in a space. Keep windows clean and open your curtains each day to allow natural light to enter your home.

By incorporating these feng shui tips, you can create an environmentally sustainable home that is better for the planet and brings in positive energy.

Command Position Magic: Feel Secure with Feng Shui

Do you ever get the feeling that someone is watching over your shoulder? Do you fear someone sneaking up on you? Maybe it’s as simple as the layout of your furniture. Feng Shui can help.

What is the Command Position?

I teach my clients that the command position is an important concept in Feng Shui because it influences the energy flow in a space. Simply, where you place furniture in a room will affect your sense of security.

In Feng Shui, you achieve the command position by positioning your furniture like your bed or desk so that you have a clear view of the entrance to the room. By doing so, you’ll have a greater sense of security and control. You’ll see anyone entering the room and will be less likely to get caught off guard.

Commanding the Bedroom

In your bedroom, for example, your bed should be placed diagonally across from the door (not directly in line with the door), with the head of your bed against a solid wall. This allows you to see the door while lying down. It will also provide a sense of support from the solid wall behind you. Get a free bedroom layout guide here to make sure you do it right.

In Command of the Office

In your workspace – even your home office – be sure to place your desk so that you have a clear view of the entrance to the room. Again, try to have your back near a solid wall. This will help increase your focus and productivity, as well as reduce distractions and your feelings of unease. I’ll let you in on a secret – it also gives others the feeling that you’re in control.

Other Locations, Too

Wherever possible, try to use the same key concepts with other locations where you relax and work. Think of how you can maximize the use of the command position in your workshop, living room, kitchen, and even your dining room. They call it the head of the table because you see everything from the command position.

Other Command Factors

In addition to furniture placement, other Feng Shui factors like lighting, color, elements, and decor can also influence the command position of your space. Make intentional choices by paying attention to these details so that you’ll feel supported, energized, and empowered.

Simple Feng Shui changes to your environment can have significant results on how you feel in your daily life. Once you understand and apply the concept of the command position in your own home and office, you’ll create a more harmonious and balanced environment that supports your well-being and success.

Feng Shui Tips for Renters: How to Create a Harmonious Space in a Rental Home

If you’re a renter, you may feel limited in your ability to make changes to your home. But even if you’re not able to paint walls or make major renovations, there are still ways to bring feng shui principles into your rental home to create a harmonious and balanced living space.

  1. Use the bagua map to identify the areas of your home: The bagua map is a tool used in feng shui to divide a space into nine areas, each associated with a different aspect of life. By identifying the areas of your home on the bagua map, you can determine which areas you can focus on to bring balance and harmony to your living space. In fact, the bagua map tells you where to apply many of the points below.
  2. Bring in natural elements: Nature is an important aspect of feng shui, and bringing in natural elements such as plants, crystals, and wood can help bring balance and positive energy to your space. If you’re not able to make any major changes to your rental, you can still bring in these elements through smaller items like vases, artwork, and decorative accents.
  3. Use color to enhance the energy of your space: Color is an important tool in feng shui, and you can use it to bring the desired energy and atmosphere to your rental home. Choose colors that are calming and soothing for your bedroom, bright and vibrant for your living room, and warm and welcoming for your entrance. You can also use color to balance out any negative energies in your space.
  4. Maximize natural light: Good lighting is important in feng shui, as it helps to create a sense of balance and clarity. If your rental home doesn’t have a lot of natural light, you can use mirrors, accents, and light-colored paint to reflect and amplify the light you do have.
  5. Declutter and organize: Clutter and disorganization can create negative energy and block the flow of good energy in your home. Take some time to declutter and organize your space, and consider incorporating storage solutions to keep things organized and clutter-free.

As a renter, you may feel limited in your ability to make changes to your home. But by incorporating feng shui principles and techniques, you can still create a harmonious and balanced living space. This is just the start! There is so much more to an integrative approach of feng shui in rental home living to harness qi (or chi) energy to attract love, wealth, health, etc.
